What We Do

Solace Counseling is dedicated to helping people reconnect with each other and with their best selves through evidence-based psychotherapy.

Is counseling for me?

Do you often feel tired, stressed, or anxious? Has some of the joy gone out of your everyday life? Do you often have the same repeated argument or issues in your relationships? Do you long to connect with people in healthier ways? Have you suffered losses and unwelcome changes in your life? Are past traumatic events causing problems in the present?

These are all issues that counseling is designed to help with. You have already done the hard work to reach out and research counseling options! You don’t have to do the rest alone.

Welcome!

I became a counselor because I am passionate about the idea that strong relationships build strong communities. When things are difficult at home, everything else in the world seems so much harder. It is my honor to work with clients to achieve their goals through person-centered, customized, and evidence-based relationship counseling and couples counseling. I grew up in a military family and love putting down roots in beautiful Eagle River, Alaska with my husband and three children.

Qualifications

Evidence-Based Therapy

I received my Master’s Degree of Science (MS) in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University in 2020 and became board certified as a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) in 2021. I became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in 2022. I have received post-graduate training in the Gottman Method for couples counseling , EMDR for processing trauma, multicultural counseling, grief, and telehealth. I have worked in the mental health field since 2017.

Welcome!

From a young age I was fascinated by psychology and human behavior. When I saw someone struggling with mental health issues, instead of thinking, "What's wrong with them?" I would often think, "I wonder what happened to them?". The good news is, it isn't always necessary to delve into the past in order to create the life you want now and into the future. Almost everyone struggles with adjustments to life on life's terms at some point. I love working with individuals, couples, and families to discover their unique strengths and offer evidence-based tools to help them create their best life, regardless of the obstacles that stand in the way. It is always an honor for me to invited into someone's life and walk alongside them as they go through this process.

Qualifications

Evidence-Based Therapy

I am a Marriage and Family Therapy Associate clinician who graduated with honors from the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Capella University. I completed a one-year internship at two Anchorage clinics. I have received specialized training in Discernment Counseling, the Gottman Method (Levels 1 & 2), Prepare - Enrich Premarital Counseling, Family Trauma, and Telehealth. I have completed master’s level courses in multicultural counseling, grief, sexuality, and LGBTQ+ issues. I am also able to offer faith-based counseling if requested.

Evidence-Based Therapy

Treatment approaches are based on the needs of the client. I primarily utilize a systemic Solution-Focused approach, but also use interventions from Motivational Interviewing, The Gottman Method, and Discernment Counseling. I have experience treating anxiety, depression, attachment issues, trauma, change of life issues, and grief.

Welcome!

From a young age, I have had appreciation for the stories shared with me by others – whether it being a story from a book, a story I heard at a dinner table, or a storyline in a movie. People are incredible storytellers… We all have a story inside of us! So, as a therapist, I am honored to share those stories in my work with clients. The best part of the therapeutic process is to help my clients see themselves as a hero or a heroine rather than a victim in a story of their lives. In that process, I enjoy building on the unique strengths and resources that each client holds. My goal is for every person that I work with to feel empowered to make an action that would take him or her to a greater quality of life and relationships.

Qualifications

Evidence-Based Therapy

I began my journey of becoming a Mental Health Counselor over 10 years ago. I started studying Clinical Psychology in Russia before I moved to Alaska to finish my Undergraduate Degree in Psychology. Afterwards, while working in the behavioral health field in Hawaii, I received my Graduate Degree in Counseling Psychology. During the last year of my Graduate Program, I gained valuable professional experience while interning in a private practice as well as in the outpatient substance use treatment. After completing my degree, I moved back “home” to Alaska to continue my work by providing both mental health and substance use counseling in a group and individual therapy setting. I became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2024 and plan on growing as a trauma professional outside of my already earned trauma-informed yoga certification.

Evidence-Based Therapy

Evidence-Based Therapy

I believe in an integrative approach to counseling and that our mind is not separate from the rest of the body. In my work, I may go beyond “talk-therapy” and ask you, “Where do you feel it in your body?” I may incorporate a Somatic Therapy approach for a client who might benefit from regaining connection between their mind and heart. I also believe that every person is different and will require a unique approach to therapy. In my work, I draw from several approaches, but find Psychoanalytic, Humanistic, Existential, Mindfulness-Based, and Cognitive-Behavioral therapies to be the most effective when coupled with a trauma-informed perspective. In my professional experience, I have been honored to serve clients from different walks of life and age groups. I feel that I have been the most successful supporting my clients struggling from symptoms of anxiety, burnout, depression, low self-esteem, life transitions, stress, and women’s issues.
